Book Review:Salvation Of a Saint

On the whole,’The Salvation Of Saint’ is a decent thriller. It may not be as racy as ‘The Devotion of Suspect X’,but still it’s a pretty good one.

Book Review: Velocity by Dean Koontz

All these years, I havn't been a great fan of silly thriller Novels and for the same reason havn't felt the necessity of going through any of Koontz earlier ones like 'The face' or 'False Memory'.But the cover of this one, made be choose this one during my recent visit to the local library.I expected this one to be yet another dumb thriller, but to my dismay i found it to be a decent psycho-thriller.It's gripping with plenty of twists and turns, fast paced and un predictable.

The protagonist is Billy wiles a bar tender who has to look after a comatosed wife. One fine day he finds a weird note on the windscreen of his SUV,which he initially dismisses as a prank or a sick joke. But soon he soon realises that a serial killer is after him, more notes follow which are more personal and more confrontational than the last. The killer also makes sure that Billy is not in a position to inform the police about the incident.

The good thing about this one is that if it manages to entertain the readers and never takes itself too seriously.Content wise, there is nothing deep in it and you never feel like sympathising with it's protagonist Billy.

Anyways, Velocity is a decent thriller and recommended for a light read..

Thekkady Boat Tragedy: The un answered questions..

Yesterday kerala witnessed one of the worst  boat tragedies in its history, after KTDC’s new double-decker boat ‘Jalakanyaka’ overturned at Manakkavala in Thekkady, claiming the lives of more than 43 people.

Some un answered questions regarding the tragedy.

1.Why enough life jackets  were not provided to the travellers of the boat.?(It has to be remembered that the boat was owned by K.T.D.C. itself, which markets Kerala as God's own country..)

2.Why no proper security instructions were given to the travellers before the journey?

3..Why only two guides were employed in the boat with a  holding capacity of  75 persons.?

4..And why do people like Cheriyan Philip still try to make  a political mileage through this incident?!

First Look: Kerala Cafe( A compilation of ten short films..)

Kerala Cafe is writer-director-producer Renjith's  reply to Sanjay Guptha's "Dus Kahaaniyaan"( though the director claims to be inspired from some Italian classic!).Anyway the idea of making short films with a common theme is new in malayalam and will be a new experience to the malayalee audience who are used to see only Bhoothams and under world dons running in their nearby theatres.Kerala Cafe has established directors behind each of the ten short films of 10-12 minutes duration. The notable ones being Shyama Prasad,Anwer Rashid, B.unnikrishnan,M.Padmakumar, Revathi and Anjali Menon. The Cast include  Suresh Gopi, Dileep, Prithviraj, Jaya surya  Jagathy Sreekumar , Kalabhavan Mani,Salim Kumar.,Suraj Venjaramoodu, Kaviyoor Ponnamma,Lekshmi gopalaswamy, priyanka ,Jyothirmayi to name a few.

Wishing all the best to the movie.
