Shame on you,Mr (Bharath) Salim Kumar!

The Mullaperiyar Issue is burning in Kerala. No one from the Malayalam film fraternity except Amal Neerad,Ashiq Abu,Ranjith ,Suresh Gopi and Rima Kallingal showed the courage to voice their opinion on the issue in public.Ranjith even boycotted the 'Kerala State Film Awards' function as a mark of protest(Kudos to you,Sir!).The 2 superstars of Malayalam Cinema Mammootty and Mohanlal don’t seem to be bothered about the issue. They don’t wish to see stones pelted at their apartments in Chennai,Nungambakkam,T Nagar it seems. We can understand  their concern. But what’s more disheartening is the manner in which the year’s  National Award winner Bharat Salim Kumar has reacted.Instead of supporting the cause, the narrow minded guy  turned this opportunity to settle his personal scores with director Ranjith.(remember the ‘Adaminte Makan Abu’ v/s Pranchiyettan’ war of words?)So according to Mr Salim Kumar’s weird logic,Ranjith and co who haven’t made a single movie on the Mullaperiyar Dam have no ‘moral right’ to voice their opinion on the issue. But then Salim Bhai, what about Aamir khan (who hasn’t made a single movie on corruption yet) so far lending his support to Anna Hazare for the ‘India Against Corruption’ campaign and Mr Rajanikanth supporting the ‘Hoganakkal Dam’ cause even without making a single movie on it?Both Aamir Khan and Rajanikanth are bigger actors than you, loved and respected by everyone. This is an issue of Moral support Mr Salim, when someone like a Rajani or Aamir or a Ranjith support a cause it’s natural that more people will notice the issue and  ponder on it.Winning a ‘National Award’ is not everything (Salim)dude, grow up!

You are mistaken blogger.. It is fact only what Salim kumar openiend. There are some 'greate people' who using such situation to get more attraction in society like bollywood and kollywood actors doing. These 'greate people' will apear in the scene only when the issue become hot. Mullaperiyar issue will not resolve by boicoting an function. It requires strong central gov intervension.

at Mathew...

the govt has been intervening in the matter since the last 50 years or so?what has happened?nothing...
no one says a ranjith boycotting the function will solve the issue..but that wud definitely bring public attention to the issue, mount the pressure on the govt, more people will take the issue seriously..thats also the logic behind an aamir khan or a Rajani supporting a fight against Corruption cause or a dam cause....
RAJANI nd aamir don't require any EXTRA PUBLIC ATTENTION,I BELIEVE...
That s what i believe SOCIAL commitment is.Salim Kumar is openionated..But the sad fact s that most f his recent opinions are out right rubbish, whether the jagathy sreekumar-award issue or this one....

Salim Kumar has lost his mind after getting the unexpected shock(award).

Getting an award does not mean "getting a license to talk any rubbish to anyone". We thought you were only acting like a joker, but you have now proved that you are really one.

You don't have to praise Ranjith for his decision to support the cause, but why criticizing when someone is doing something good?

And about Ranjith's publicity:-

Let's see whether he is participating in the 100th day celebration of his new film 'Indian Rupee'.

I couldnt find anything wrong with what Saleem Kumar said. I dont know why nikhi is so emotional on that. What he said is realistic.
He was asking where were all these film stars till this year. The issue started in year 2000. Why all these sudden protests?

at above..
the thing is though the issue had been there since ages, general awareness created, more than a dozen earth quakes happened, the situation became worse only now...
since i am a resident of ekm,I know what the general sitn/the mentality of the common residents of the region ...or lse we wud nt have got this much support for the protst meet at vennala we had organised also naaa?
it saw a massive turn up of more than 300 people..!!!!

Brave Mr. Ranjith .......
So untill this problem(Mullaperiyar) resolves...mr. ranjith will not participate in any celebrations , rt???? so let see....

Ranjith doesn't owner the state awards(clear from the prev. years) so people beleaves His statement may be the one reason to avoid this function......... otherwise as salim kumar said... the issue is there for long back.... no one said a single word till now....

so as mr ranjith said, we expect he will not participoate any celebrations from now...... and truly support the mullaperiyar issue.

I think Salim's opinion makes no sense. Renjith has his own place in Malayalam movie industry. I wonder why Salim and his supporters said where these people were till now! Does it means, if you didn't make your opinion against any wrong at the beginning itself, you have no right to do same later at all???

those who think salim kumar received highly honored national award was ridiculous, well no body can object to that.
he was a comedian in movies and well appreciated for his 'talented' performance in various humor roles till now.his preformance in achan urangatha veedu was appreciated well.
salim kumar getting a national award or any small award makes keralite proud.so in this current crisis of mullaperiar dam issue, evvery keralite caring for eachother should support the cause.that too involves salim kumar as well and his argument against somebody supporting mullaperiar issue is bad though assuming his view that showing support could be for publicity or whatever.
renjith's support for mullaperiar is extremely appreciable.withdrawing from award functions is top class and spreads awareness that during a crisis situation for the people in kerala which would cost lives, conducting a celebration function is against the cries of people.salim kumar's argument was also true that many glamorous personalities and politicians 'evolve' for publicity and to get unfair advantage on some matter.
