The Best of Malayalam Cinema 2015

It's that time of the year when we crib about the best and the worst of the year gone by.In this year ender series,we'll be talking about movies, books and other events which happened in the year 2015-the good and the bad.The first post in the series will be about the best of Malayalam Cinema in this year.

10.Picket 43- Major Ravi's track record in Malayalam Cinema has had it's share of ups and downs.Though he made his directorial debut with 'keerthichakra' in a rather impressive fashion, his follow up films had been disappointing.Frankly speaking, none had high hopes on his Prithviraj flick 'Picket 43'.But with brilliant performances from it's lead cast, excellent cinematography by Jomon T John and decent execution by Major Ravi, the movie surprised one and all and ended up as the year's first hit.

9.Oru Vadakkan Selfie- Nivin Pauly continued his dream run at the boxoffice with Vadakkan Selfie. The movie directed by Prajith G and penned by Vineeth Sreenivasan was the first blockbuster of the year.Vaikkam Vijayalashmi's 'Kaikottum Kandittilla' was a rage among the masses.

8.Chirakodinja Kinavukal- Vishwanath's directorial debut was a bold experiment,I would say.The first spoof movie made in Malayalam, this one made fun of almost all the time tested cliches' of Malayalam Cinema.Kunchakko Boban in a double-role delivered a neat performance.Bankrolled by Listin Stephen's 'Magic Frames',this is  movie was way ahead of it's times and didn't get it's deserved success at the KBO.

7.Urumbukal Urangarilla-This low profile flick had  Vinay Fort and Chemban Vinod Jose playing the protagonists. With limited resources,Jiju Asokan made sure that his debut movie as a director is a decent entertainer.I'm sure that most of you haven't seen this movie yet,but I suggest you give it a try.You won't regret it.

6.Chandrettan Evideya- Siddharth Bharathan's 'Chandrettan Evideya' was a welcome relief for it's lead actor Dileep from his usual crass comedy masala entertainers.Light hearted and sensible,'Chandrettan' was an eminently enjoyable movie.Anushree and Namitha also contributed to the film's success with their genuinely likeable performances.

5.Amar Akbar Anthony-Nadirshah's first movie as a director,'AAA' is one of the highest grossing films of the year.Indrajith and Jayasurya were hilarious but it was Prithviraj who surprised everyone with his comic timing.
