Shocking news : Malayalam Directors have started reading again....!

Long ago, much before the era of Bhootams and Jackies, we had movies based on popular novels and short stories.But  since our directors started treating books as 'potential sources of infection', (one director had even confessed recently that he hated visiting public libraries  coz of Swine flu scare!)those type of movies have become extinct.

The good news is that some of the  mainstream movie makers have finally  dared to think beyond Udaya Krishnans and Benny P nayarambalams.(who are currently the highest paid script writers of the state with movies like CID Moosa ,Lollypop,Chotta Mumbai to their credit).Two movies which are in the post production stage are based on popular malayalam novels.They are Renjith's Palery Manikyam Oru pathira Kolapathakathinte Kadha and Dileep-S.kumar team's Swa.Le.

Paalery Manikyam is a novel by T.P.Rajeevan ,the noted malayalam writer who actually wrote the english version of this novel first (titled 'A Mid Night Murder story').It's about a 22 year old lady named Manikyam who was found dead 50 years ago in a small village called palery near kozhikode.(I had read this novel a couple of weeks back and i must say i enjoyed reading it).

The second one, Swa.le is based on a short story by kalavoor ravikumar (who gave us earlier 'Ishtam') titled 'Dead Line'.Set in the early ninetees, the movie should be a pleasant experience to the viewers unlike the hero's last solo release 'Moss and Cat'.

Hope both the movies come out good unlike the reel version of 'Sunil Parameswaran's Anantha Bhadram,which was a not so great cinematic experience....!

First look: De Dana Dan

The Hera Pheri team is back.Yes  Akki,Sunil Shetty and Paresh Rawel are teaming up yet again for a Priyadarshan flick.Priyan claims 'De dana dan' to be original stuff,but only after the release,we will be able to say which dvd he had seen before scripting this one.Anyways this time giving Akki and co company is the gorgeous Katrina Kaif .Akki's latest film Blue has opened to poor reviews and it has to be seen whether the 100 crore flick will sustain the initial hype.Priyadarshan is also on a low,post the debacle of his Irrfan khan-Shahrukh khan mis adventure 'Billu'.Let's hope De dana Dan will turn the tide again in favour of them.

First Look: Kerala Cafe( A compilation of ten short films..)

Kerala Cafe is writer-director-producer Renjith's  reply to Sanjay Guptha's "Dus Kahaaniyaan"( though the director claims to be inspired from some Italian classic!).Anyway the idea of making short films with a common theme is new in malayalam and will be a new experience to the malayalee audience who are used to see only Bhoothams and under world dons running in their nearby theatres.Kerala Cafe has established directors behind each of the ten short films of 10-12 minutes duration.The notable ones being Shyama Prasad,Anwer Rashid, B.unnikrishnan,M.Padmakumar, Revathi and Anjali Menon.The Cast include  Suresh Gopi, Dileep, Prithviraj, Jaya surya  Jagathy Sreekumar , Kalabhavan Mani,Salim Kumar.,Suraj Venjaramoodu, Kaviyoor Ponnamma,Lekshmi gopalaswamy, priyanka ,Jyothirmayi to name a few.

          They are back.!  The unbeatable team of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai: Kjo,SRK and Mrs.Devgan are coming back to set the screens on fire after 8 years. Honestly,i dint like their last film together,K3G which  was a test on my patience.Neither did i find kjo-SRK 's last one KANK interesting.Hoping their come back movie MNK to be a pleasant watch.

Yet another Celebrity divorce?

A few months back, Kavya Madhavan the leading Malayalam Actress bid adieu to the Malayalam Film Industry following her marriage to Nishaal Chandra, an N.R.I. and a failed actor.But now it seems that she is also following the foot steps of yester year actresses Sukanya,Rohini et al.At least sify.com thinks so...

Here is what they have posted today..

There is no official confirmation about this from Kavya’s family but sources close to them say that the marriage is on the rocks and Kavya who joined her husband in Kuwait is now back in Kochi and is staying with her parents.

Sources also state that Kavya’s family has approached a leading lawyer and filed a divorce petition.Nischal, a failed actor and his mother were torturing Kavya mentally, alleging that she had an affair with a top Malayalam actor, which led to the split.

It seems to be seen whether the other recently married actresses will also go the Kavya way...!
