The Varanasi Boat School!

Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.”
                                                                                      ― Mahatma Gandhi
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
                                                                                      ― Nelson Mandela

Education is undoubtedly the most valuable asset a person could possess. In a country like India, where there is no shortage of human resources, illiteracy is obviously one of the biggest threats to development (currently,we house the largest population of illiterate adults in the world, contributing to 37% of the global total). There are many NGOs in our Country which work selflessly and tirelessly to spread the light of knowledge  to the under privileged class. Ajeet Singh’s NGO, Guria, which is based out of Varanasi is one among them. They have started an innovative venture called the ‘Boat School’.The initiative is mainly intended to introduce the illiterate kids(who are otherwise engaged in trades and other activities) to the world of learning. Here, the Children can  spend a couple of hours every day (after their regular day activities)and study, play or revise without any stress or pressure. In short, this initiative while making  learning a tension free/pressure free process also makes sure that an enhanced, ideal learning environment is created for the ‘smart citizens of tomorrow’.

As you might have figured out by now, this ‘project’ has got it’s heart in the right place, a true visionary and a genuine human being (Ajeet Singh) backing it whole- heartedly but as in the case of any well,intentioned,non-profitable initiatives,is acutely running short of money. To attain the Boat School’s true goal,a lot more has to be done ranging from restoration,redecoration/renovation of the interiors to the distribution of study material, computer, library,CDs,stationery, painting kit and educational toys.In short,it’s in dire need of a magical transformation .Each one of you (who are reading this blog) can actually take part in this amazing Journey of Doing Right by contributing/donating  for this noble cause. As they say,the future of India is in your hands.Afterall, being citizens of this great country,it’s our moral responsibility to make our motherland a great place to live in,right?

If You want to know more about the ‘Boat School’ and the pro-active role which you can play in it’s magical transformation, kindly click on the following link. Also, please be kind enough to share this message across your virtual world(read ‘Social Media Circles’) with the hashtag #Scholarship.I’m sure that the success of this venture will act as a catalyst for millions of similar projects across the Country.Let’s work for an India which is one hundred percent literate! Jaihind!
