Book Review : My Husband 's Wife by Alice Feeney

Alice Feeney is one of my favourite thriller writers and I adore her writing style. Her ability to pull off atmospheric, fast paced thrillers set in idyllic British Villages is something I admire her for and this time also she has got her setting quite right. Hope Falls is a fictional picteresque village bordered by the Cornish coast on one side and wild moors on the other.

Eden is an artist who lives in Hope Falls. She lives with her husband, Harrison. One day, she comes home after a jog to discover that her husband doesn’t recognize her, and her life has been stolen by another woman who not only looks like her but also claims to be her husband’s wife.

The Novel starts off with this interesting premise (a bit like Ashley Elston's First lie Wins) and proceeds in break neck speed throwing in some really interesting twists and turns for a while. But towards the half way mark, as the plot unravels, logic starts going for a toss and you are served with non - sensical twists one after the other.

The climax is such a mess and for the sake of ending the Novel on a positive note, it seems Feeney has totally disregarded the crater sized loopholes in the plot.

(Minor Spoilers- The initial scenes between Birdy and Harrison looks so stupid, once you have figured out the core mystery!)

On the whole, 'My Husband's Wife', though an easy fast paced read, ends up as an unconvincing half baked mystery with logical issues. An average read!
